property virgin here *waving sheepishly*

Ok, today was my first day of house hunting and it went really well. Weather, buyer's agent, and the lock boxes at the houses were all good.

House number one:

Great location, smallish 3 bedroom with 1/2 acre in a desireable township, near everything. BIG 2 car garage, also. Drawbacks: super narrow stairwell to the bedrooms, awkward layout of stove, fridge, sink, and NO counter space. The only option is to put a table near the stove to work on, but then the table would be in front of the fireplace. Keeping it on the list.

House number two:

**BUZZZ!** No go, standing water in the basement. Very moldy. Nothing updated, shingles falling off roof.

House number three:

Super cute smallish 2 family. In my price range. Great yard (I really like a craggy, cliffy yard with remnants of old foundations exposed, etc.) with most of it behind the house rather than in front. Huge dry basement for storeage. New appliances, new windows, new heating system... you get the picture. BUT! It has one drawback. Parking on the street. No garage, no driveway, and you have to climb 6 steps to get to the front door. So, it's on the list, but I'm not making an offer yet.

Very productive day, in that I finally have a couple of dollars in the bank, and have been temporarily approved for a small mortgage with down payment assistance. And, my buyers agent is a doll! As a matter of fact, we are spiritual sisters! Neat, huh?

Enjoy the weather guys. I'm letting my dinner settle.

Rocky Neck has been a place I can 'go on vacation without ever leaving.' It's that sort of little spot that isn't well known, but has a little of everything, in a convenient location. There are two bath houses, one at each end of the long cresent shaped beach, and lots of parking. If you want to cook out, there are dozens of nice bbq spots with metal grills planted in the ground.. some of them overlooking the ocean. Quite lovely.

With the current plans to move on my mind, I have begun to try and figure out where I want to be for the next dozen or so years. What is the place I like the best, and why. Florida feels like home to me, but it's not practical to make that move. The beach here in Connecticut is calling me, and at least do-able.

chix hat

For chics only... Hahaha! dude... this totally threw me into fits! If you think it's funny too, we can be bff.

If you can look at this hat and not smile, all I can say is you should drag yourself and your cold black heart to the back of the cave you slithered out of.
But first go check out the etsy seller who crafted such a fantastic wonder.

steely dan and deacon blues are suddenly cryptic

I took a color quiz. For a change, cuz I'm feeling notso frikkin' sunshiney bright lately. Heh. Funny, but this description sounds alot like me, and Eleanor Rooseavelt, and Wilma Flintstone.

you are steelblue
#4682B4

Your dominant hues are cyan and blue. You like people and enjoy making friends. You're conservative and like to make sure things make sense before you step into them, especially in relationships. You are curious but respected for your opinions by people who you sometimes wouldn't even suspect.

Your saturation level is medium - You're not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it's required of you. You probably don't think the world can change for you and don't want to spend too much effort trying to force it.

Your outlook on life is brighter than most people's. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You're not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up.

loose lips sink ships

I've been 'blurting' again. Maybe I need Blurters Anonymous?

Friday afternoon at work, I apparently blurted a brief statement out, and then forgot all about it. (I said "nurse Blank" got fired from "X facility" for " whatever" at work. God! I'm an idiot!)

The weekend proceeded without much ado.

Monday afternoon I just had a bad feeling about going to work. I almost overslept, as a matter of fact, and then had to rush BIG TIME to make it in under the wire with 1 minute to spare. *(Because, bottom line, I don't like it there. Lately, I have caught myself being super negative, and gossipy. Talking too much with too many people. Because, I really don't like working there, following that particular day shift crew. And, I still haven't forgotten how bad it was when I worked there years ago.)

About 15 minutes after walking in, I got a call from a co-worker in the building. It was a co-worker who was highly upset with me for 'blurting' and at first, I honestly didn't remember what she was referring to... until...

I remembered. I got red. I wanted to just quit and never come back to the God-forsaken place again. Because, all day, 'all the day shift nurses' had been talking about it, stewing in the negative vibes, etc. And now I would carry the label of "Unforgiven" until someone else does something equally as stupid and thoughtless.

Now, all is not gloom and doom, because at Sunday worship, one of the main points that was stressed was that we all are going to have negative feelings, and low self-esteem, but not to give up.

So I won't give up. I'll carry on, being the same big-mouthed creep that I have always been deep down inside. The creep that fooled everyone for a long time, even herself, until this past week. That terrible habit of blurting out the wrong thing has never really left after all. It simply hid it's ugly self until the going got tough, and well, here we are.

So now it's time to drag through every day, checking and double-checking all my paperwork, hoping I don't make a fatal mistake for her to find. Because she will be looking. Everyone at work, heck, just everyone has a story about a time that THEY put their foot in their mouth. We all do it at least once in our lives, I know. But this place is already a swirling vortex of misery every day.

Well, maybe I'll get forgotten when the next weather disaster/massive bombing-shooting-suicide/financial catastrophy hits the news.

Getting prequalified for a mortgage puts things in perspective. And it made me question my decision to move. I can't duplicate this qualitly of life if I own my own home here in Norwich. But I also will need different living arrangements.

Rents have become more expensive than mortgages this past year. Economically it makes sense to get a little place now.

I certainly will miss living in a quiet building with nice neighbors. I'll miss the new inground pool and pool house. I'll miss the conveniences.

I won't miss having to share my bathroom, and no place to sit down and eat a meal. I won't miss the lack of storage.

Another, bigger apartment will literally be the same as a mortgage with the taxes and ins. rolled in.

my inner mermaid said to buy this

Here's another tasty treat from etsy. Yet again, out of my price range. Maybe I will punish myself for even thinking about buying it with a harsh trip to the thrift store and a mean budget of 5 bucks. Just to teach myself a lesson of course. Mermaid Creek almost made me do it.

If I had flopped my head down on the table, in front of the deceased fabrics, this is how it would look anyway. The eyes are going, along with other stuff.

When I was on a short vaca in Wrightsville Beach N.C a few years ago, I got a SuperUltra sunburn, with the worst of it on my chest. It was only April afterall. We were staying in the Holiday Hill right on the beach, and I forgot to put sunscreen on before sprawling out on the chase. In mere minutes, the stingy burn started and the damage was done. My chest hurt for DAYS. Now I use sunscreen all the time, every time, and I still go to the beach often, because that's so much a part of who I am.

true blue

Can you stand it? This could seriously be a work of genious. Genious!! Haha!!

It's Sunday and I feel a little bit bored. The b28 is playing xbox, and it's too cold to go out.

What exactly did I do before I found etsy? *wavey mental picture fades in* ah yes... laundry... dusting.... ironing my unifor....SNAP

Back to reality. Etsy is way more fun. Ironing can bite me.

sunset on my hand

I found another pretty. This carnelian piece from artisanimpact on etsy makes my mouth water.

But spending more than 8 dollars on etsy makes my eyes water, and my checking account ache really really hard. So I'll just pretend.

Alert! *ahRUUUUGGAH arRUUUUGGAH* Alert!

*ahem*

Much to the delight of me, I can PROVE that I really was sick when I posted this about pinching the cheeks all the way home in my car, and then feeling better by night time.

You see, Gortons Fish has recalled some of their frozen fish fillets. A Gortons Frozen Fish Fillet sammich is the ONLY thing I ate the morning in question.

This time I was not a faker-faker-poo-poo maker. See?

I just might have to email the President.

Have I mentioned that I really love shopping etsy? I'm weary from dragging my butt around 3 different facilities, so this made my day.

Thanks Lotta!

What's the story?

During the past 46 years, I've lived in Connecticut. I've traveled up and around the U.S. and to Puerto Rico, and loved every minute. I've had 4 children who are now fantastically talented adult artists and comedians. I've been married and then divorced and then engaged and then single and finally *big sigh* content. I've grown into a darn good nurse, cook, seamstress, and Mom.

Maybe one of these days I'll get this 'writing' thing down, too.
