clue 5 Allietare quilt

Here is my little sample for the  fifth clue to Allietare 2015!
This has been great fun to sew and I love the earthy, marble like feel of it. Thanks to Bonnie Hunter for all that it takes to produce this free mystery quilt pattern!

Stuffy puffy and fluffy, and clue 4!

Doing clue number four for Allietare mystery quilt was easy and fun, and I love how the black background fabric gives the illusion that the other fabrics are floating in space, how fun is that!?! Also I am back to working on my flutterby quilt as well.

For some reason the blocks are not coming out 10.5 when done, despite me checking and rechecking and then trimming away even the most scant dusty particles for squaring up the 4 patches and recs, I don't get it. I gotta find another Jen Kingwell customer and get to the bottom of this.

clue number 4

Here again is another Allietare mystery quilt 2015. Loving the colors and fabrics together, even family members that don't quilt love it!

Also the baby quilt top is finished now just to sew together and back it, it's been fun.

Totally cool way to spend day off!

Had a great day off, we played with play dough,
Found a fantastic gray constant for the mystery quilt, and another fun neutral too,
helped my daughter pain her dining room an appetizing shade of 'pumpkin pie'
and I forgot I had this, now do I use it or wait for something on my new grand daughter (yes I think it's a girl.)?

What a great day off!!!

Mystery Monday Link up page and quilt colors

so here is a preview of the true colors for mystery quilt and link up page on quiltville if I decide to do one:
I am thinking that this will look fantastic with the blood red and black added to it!  So sorry I got rid of some retro floral gold materials about 2 weeks ago, but live and learn I guess.

The agony and pretty good.

First for the good news:  I did a dozen or so of the clue #3 units for Allietare quilt. Very pretty, happens to be one of my top all time fav color ways for decorating EVER!!
And the bad news is that I need extensive repairs for the transmission, so I will be horribly broke for the winter.  Ho Ho Ho.

carolina road squares via the live qultcam

how cool is this?  I watched an older broadcast from the quiltvilla and followed the directions Bonnie so nicely gave us and here is a great little stash buster!  Have too many older charm packs waiting around for years, so it's time for them to live a little. quiltville.blogspot.com/p/live-quiltcam.html
Digging around in the old stasharoonie and I found some charm squares that I forget about, how splendid of them to match the mystery quilt colors!! This is sooo exciting!

Here is the progress so far on Quiltsville Mystery 2015: allietare I am making one unit first, to see if it's something I want to finish up with, no use cutting fabric if I won't ultimately make the quilt.

So there is the beginnings of a lovely quilt by Bonnie K Hunter on quiltville.com that I am having fun observing at this point however I believe I will at some time in the future give in and at least do a bit from each 'hint' to refer back to in the future, Thnx Bonnie! Allietare link
It's been a very long time Bloggie, but I'm back.  There has been much sewing, and grandparenting, and more sewing going on round here.

It seems pretty unfair to me that a woman becomes a fantastic cook later in life, just as her caloric needs diminish to match that of a petrified log.  Dammit.

Ok I'm done blitchin'.   I have a job, a good car, my own house, no man-drama, one grand baby and another on the way, SQUUUEEEEEEYYY!

Strawberries saved me.

My sweet little grandie, who I call Emii but who is actually named Adiyana Amelia Roman, is going to be 3 soon.

Today I sat with her on the front porch, holding her in my lap and singing that Butterfly song she loves.  She has grown steadily.  She is healthy.  She is very pretty.   She is also Autistic.  I love everything about her, and some day I will understand more of what she is saying.  For now I look at her face as she relaxes and smiles broadly, and pretend I understand the sounds,   I play with her the best that I can, and she lets go of the tension and transforms.  It totally changes her face and she looks like a different little girl. She let's me kiss her, tickle under her arm, and her bare feet.  Today she laid back and stretched and almost snuggled in to take a nap.

The weather was finally warm and sunny, and we enjoyed it in the community garden.  Emii carried the watering can with me, and we gave the kale and strawberries many drinks.  Another family, a daddy and his little girl, were also doing some gardening.  They left the shovel out of the tool shed, and I dug up some strawberry plans that were growing along a pathway and transplanted them into my raised bed.  If I had not done that, they would have rotted and gone to waste.  It made me feel good to save them, and to share this day with my sweet, beautiful, impossible to understand girl.

The new stuff around here isn't exciting, but maybe that's a good thing.  Can't handle a lot of excitement with my personal economy nose diving a million miles an hour.  I have had no raise, and I am in the same boat as many folks, trying to pay utility bills that have tripled, and buy gas that's now 4.45 gallon.   Seriously looking at filing bankruptcy. Then I can actually afford to replace my roof, and fix my car.   Right now I am sending 700.00 a month to pay off inflated debt, and actually I will be paying it off for another 15 years, right up to my retirement, leaving me NOTHING for retirement.  Insanity.

There has been a change or three around here.  Good ones, for sure. I have lost 40 lbs.  Cara and Joshey are doing well.  She is excelling in her nursing program, and they start back with classes the last week of August.  I can't wait for her to finish and pass her boards and be a real, walkin-talkin RN!!  So proud.

Joe is here with me, he is doing much better than he has in years, also very proud.  Tim and Co are having bad times and grandie may have an extended sleep over at Gramma's.  hinthint.

Tiffany and her guy Joe the Naptizer are ok and they now live upstairs from me.  So far so good.

Hope u are well too.

Weight Watchers points plus plan is the best option for me, and works wonderfully!  As of now, I've been on for 16 weeks, and I've lost over 30 lbs.  Also, because of getting rid of the white sugar/flour stuff, I feel alot better and have started jogging using the Couch to 5K program I got online for free.  I am more than half way thru that and loving it, LOVING IT!!!  Hope all is well out there in blogger land!

Monday, February 20, 2012

this month I proved something to myself.

When I eliminate most of the white flour, rice, sugar from my diet, I am 100% better for it.    No dips in energy, no crazy negative moods, no cravings for more white flour, rice, sugar... you get the picture.   Food no longer has any power over me.  Seriously, it works.  Also, by getting rid of cable tv, I enjoy what ever tv watching I choose to do.  Worlds of difference around here, seriously. Try it some time.

also, I am nearly finished with the first ever jelly roll quilt.  it's not bad at all.

record heat and flowers love it

what a difference a few years make... we will have to make it a priority this spring

What's the story?

During the past 46 years, I've lived in Connecticut. I've traveled up and around the U.S. and to Puerto Rico, and loved every minute. I've had 4 children who are now fantastically talented adult artists and comedians. I've been married and then divorced and then engaged and then single and finally *big sigh* content. I've grown into a darn good nurse, cook, seamstress, and Mom.

Maybe one of these days I'll get this 'writing' thing down, too.
